Policy Brief: Framework for Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming our world, with the potential to revolutionize industries, improve our lives, and address some of the world's most pressing challenges. However, AI also raises several important concerns, including the potential for bias, discrimination, and misuse. In this Policy Brief, ICIT Director of Research Dustin Sachs discusses a newly proposed Senate AI Framework. The Framework is a proposed set of principles and guidelines for the development and use of artificial intelligence in the United States. The Framework focuses on four key areas: transparency and explainability, accountability, ethics, and national security. It is still under development but has already received broad support from industry, academia, and civil society. The Framework will be introduced in the Senate in the coming months.
