About the event
This ICIT virtual briefing, Securing the Backbone of Deployment: Protecting Critical Infrastructure for Military Mobility, will assess how vulnerabilities in transportation critical infrastructure—airports, ports, and freight rail—can become decisive friction points in a high-tempo conflict or major contingency requiring rapid U.S. mobilization.
As the United States faces adversaries willing to combine cyber operations, supply chain risk, and physical disruption to impede deployment and sustainment, transportation infrastructure becomes both a strategic target and a national responsibility. Drawing on the report Military Mobility Depends on Secure Critical Infrastructure, this session will outline where current resilience falls short and what practical solutions can be resourced now.
Attendees will gain a clear view of how mobility dependencies intersect with cybersecurity, what “good” public-private coordination looks like under stress, and which targeted actions—funding mechanisms, harmonized policy, and operational exercises—can meaningfully reduce risk before it is tested in crisis.
